Five Ways to Support Ethical Fashion (without actually buying anything)

Five Ways to Support Ethical Fashion (without actually buying anything) - FRANC

There are many awesome ethical fashion brands that are taking the lead for the future of fashion and we love to see it. The creativity and ingenuity that’s coming out as we find more ways to ensure that people and the planet are being treated fairly is a dream come true.

It’s impossible to support every ethical brand, as much as we’d love to. Our bank accounts would be depleted, our closets would be too full — it’s just not sustainable. Support doesn’t always mean pulling out your wallet though. Here are five ways to support ethical fashion brands without buying anything.

1. Follow.

If you’re on social media and an ethical fashion brand catches your eye, hit that follow button. It shows the brand that you’re interested and it keeps you in the loop with what they’re creating.

2. Sign up for emails.

This is a great option especially if you’re not on social media but you want to keep up with what’s going on. Hit subscribe and follow along. Most brands these days keep it real and know not to send out too many emails. This is another way of saying “hey I see you, and I like what I see.”

4. Talk about it.

Whether it’s sharing posts on your own social media account or talking with friends, word of mouth goes a long way. We’re more likely to buy something if someone we trust gives it a good review. You can advocate ethical brands by talking about the brands you love and inviting your people to love them too.

5. Write a review.

If you love it, leave a review for others and for the people behind the scenes to see. If you less than love it, still leave a review, but be gentle. Your experience and opinion matter. We always love to see a raving review, but we’re not perfect and we won’t pretend to be. We want to hear your feedback so we can continue to grow as a business and do a happy dance when you love it too.

6. Create content.

Write an adjective-heavy blurb on those cozy sweats that you bought last year that are still holding up. Take pictures of your stay-at-home date night with yourself in that dress that you wear on special occasions. Make a video of your day in your versatile go-to outfit. Get creative, have fun, and don’t forget to mention the brand you’re loving.

When you need to replace something in your wardrobe or you’re wanting to get a gift for a friend, now is the time to support with your dollars. Gift cards are great options for your friends who are curious about checking out ethical fashion but are price-tag hesitant. In my experience, once you fall for slow, sustainable, ethical fashion, there’s no going back. Nothing beats feeling confident and comfortable in an outfit that’s thoughtful to earth and her kind.
