SHOP NOW AND READ LATER

With more and more shopping being done online, it's getting harder and harder to avoid it.

But the one thing that holds people back when they are shopping online for clothes is figuring out what size will be the right fit for them.

The biggest frustration people have is every how sizes are so inconsistent between brands- when you're a 12 in one store, you could be a 10 in another and a 14 in another! Why does shopping have to be so frustrating!?

Let's start this guide by saying SIZE AIN'T NOTHING BUT A NUMBER - it is not your score, and it does not define you.

Size is simply here so you can have a gauge of what will fit, sadly there are no standards in sizing (there should be!) so don't hold value in the number or the letter! Hold value in how well something fits your unique and wonderful self.

The Basic Elements Of A Good Fit

This can sometimes be hard to distinguish if something fits you well or not, as it's often hard to decide how something was intended to fit for the style.

Say for instance if an item is made for a loose look or slim fit, how are those supposed to look/fit on you? Often it has alot to do with personal preference but a good place to start with determining what fits is going over the basic elements of good fitting slim/form fitting clothes.

As clothes that are styled to be loose have all the wiggle room - you want the areas we defined in this guide to be a bit on the loose/large size. Once you feel comfortable with finding your fit for a slim fitting item, the slouchy look is easy peasy. Hopefully we haven't lost you.

Let us explain.

The Two Key Elements For A Good Fit

In all tops, the key areas for a good fit are your shoulder width and chest circumference.
If a piece of clothing fits you well in these key areas you can then go on to focus on how it fits in other areas -  from that point its more based on personal preference and unique comfort.

The two key areas to focus on fitting are...

1. THE SHOULDER WIDTH - you want the shoulder seam of the garment, to line up with the tip of your shoulder.

2. THE CHEST - the chest of the garment should lay nice, you want to avoid to much bunching or pulling (when possible).

OF COURSE, none of our bodies are the same and sometimes it's just not possible to get a good fit on both 1 and 2.
SO in that case, focus on getting the shoulder seam of the garment to meet the tip of your shoulder. A shirt that pulls a bit in the chest never really hurt unless it actually hurts, then that's a definite no.

If that is not possible, focus on getting the chest to fit and let the shoulder seam of the shirt fall off your shoulder a bit.

The key is to get one of these two items fitting perfectly on you body - sometimes both are not possible and THAT'S OK!

The Next Areas To Focus On...

Not that these aren't important for a good fit, but these areas are more dependant on your specific body type and what you feel comfortable showing off//or hiding.

Those next areas to focus on are....

3. THE WAIST AND HIPS - somethings you want it fitted in these areas, sometimes you really don't.

4. THE SLEEVE OPENINGS - usually you want at least a cm or two around the opening of a short sleeve shirt - too much tightness in the short sleeves isn't comfortable.

4b. THE SLEEVE LENGTH - this isn't as important as a good roll of a sleeve fixes to long sleeves and sometimes a shirt is meant to have shorter sleeves, or you can make it look like its suppose to be.

5. THE BODY LENGTH - the length of the top on your body. Maybe you like it long or short - a personal preference point.

NONE of our bodies are the same so never ever try to get the same fit as the model - but use this as a bouncing off point.

Next up YOUR unique measurements....

The Basic Elements Of Your Unique Fit

This is when you need to grab a tape measure. Keeping an updated list of your measurements makes online shopping much easier.

We suggest you open up a new note in your phones notepad - and use this to list these measurements....

How To Properly Measure Yourself

It's always important to check in with your measurements, and keep an updated list on your notepad. This will make online shopping so much easier...

1. YOUR SHOULDER WIDTH - with your back straight, have someone measure from your shoulder tip to shoulder tip.

2. YOUR CHEST - using a measuring tape, measure around the full circumference of the widest part of your chest (you could also use your bra measurement for this)

3. YOUR WAIST - wrap the measuring tape and measure around your naval (keep your back straight).

4. YOUR TORSO - from the tip of your shoulder measure down to the top of your fave pants.

5. YOUR HIPS - wrap the measuring tape around the widest part of your behind/hip area.

6. YOUR INSEAM - measure from your crotch to ankle.

These are YOUR unique measurements, mark them down and use them as your standard.

Size Charts Are Your Friend

Sadly sizes just aren't consistent or accurate, ever. It's the most frustrating when it's within a brand though, right!?

The BEST and actually only way to avoid the frustrating disappointment of ordering your size only to find out when it comes, it's not actually YOUR size.  Is to check the size chart and compare it to your unique measurements.

Try and match your two key measurements: THE SHOULDER WIDTH and THE CHEST to your unique measurements. And if you can't find a size that matches both, try your best to match one while keeping the other a bit too big (avoid too small).

FRANC Size Charts Are Unique For Each Style

•This allows you to compare your measurements to all the items, so you can feel confident when you order.

•Our sizes are based off each other, so sizing stays consistent across our brand.

•Our sizes are based on real bodies, small is actually a small and a large is a large – crazy concept right?!

•We like a little stretch, but not too much. Some stretch means you have a little more room to get the fit that you want + it's just more comfortable like that.
